| Masking Ring |

|
The masking ring protects the parent coating layer during field joint coating. When cleaning and blasting on the pipe weld area, the parent coating layer can be damaged or contaminated. This causes loss of adhesion to the field joint coating. The masking ring is re-usable and easy to position and remove, which is an advantage compared to tape.
The masking ring is produced to fit around any shape of coated pipe. It consists of a protection shield, which is usually tapered, and a clamping ring. The advanced clamping system can be adjusted accurately to achieve the right tension, and causes the masking ring to stay firmly clamped around the pipe. The protection shield completely seals off the original coating layer against impact of steel grit.
Due to the hinge in the back, the masking ring can very easily be removed from the pipe and placed around the next one, saving valuable time during the field joint coating process.
