Tensile tests Block C, System88

11.06.2010     System88 tests after 5 years of intensive use

The PE-Blocks of System88 are tested again after 5 years for their material qualities. The test-blocks were all used intesively during the past 5 years for of pipe transport by train. Researchers looked for changes in the material caused by UV-exposure, other climate influences and heavy loads.

The Blocks were visually inspected and the outcome of tesile tests were compared to the same tests 5 years ago. No changes were found. These tests prove the excellent performance of the blocks as expected in 2005. The blocks are still being monitored and the same tests shall be repeated in 2015.

28.04.2010     Pipe Raiser approved by TÜV Germany

The European guideline 96/53 for transportation limits the width of truck loads to 2,55 metres. This results in individual pipe transports for diameters above 50”. By raising one pipe above the other, the width of the total load can be reduced. The ‘Pipe Raiser’ allows transport of two pipes (50” – 60”) on one truck, reducing transports by half.

During a two day testing period, the Pipe Raiser was challenged accroding to VDI 2700 standards for approval by TÜV NORD in Germany. The tests that took place in Dreierwalde, Germany, included extreme braking, S-curves and U-turns in both directions. The necessary G-forces for non-linear motion were reached in all directions (0,5G to each side, 0,8G to the front and 0.5G to the back). For this innovation, which improves pipe transport worldwide, Dhatec received a TÜV certificate.
